Rural Entrepreneurship/Incubation and Innovation Cell Workshop: Coastal MSME and Startup Conclave 2023

         The workshop was conducted on 4th November 2023 at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. The inauguration at 9:30 AM featured insightful discussions on entrepreneurship, with CA Arun and Gayathri R (BOB) emphasizing the importance of innovation in the MSME and agricultural sectors. The speeches highlighted the need for creative ideas, citing examples like RAMRAJ and CHIK shampoo's sachet approach to reach rural areas. CA Prathiksha Rai further delved into the meaning of entrepreneurship, outlining targets for India Inc. and detailing the stages in the lifetime of entrepreneurs and startups. The comprehensive overview covered education, vocation, incubation, innovation, ideation, planning, execution, scaling, and growth. Mr. Cany Mendonsa (Branding and Marketing consultant, Bangalore) explored marketing and branding strategies, emphasizing the importance of a solid business plan, funding, management structure, employees, and licensing. The approach suggested building, nurturing, and engaging the business for sustained success. Dr. Mahesh Tomas (CEO Manipal) took a session on global opportunities for Indian startups and discussed the reasons to go global, the readiness of Indian startups, and export promotional schemes. AIC Nitte contributed insights into the evolving ecosystem, stages in startup growth, and the overall startup ecosystem. Aloysius shed light on opportunities in the MSME food processing sector, exploring various segments and business opportunities in fisheries. The report emphasized the health benefits of fish, its economic significance, and the potential for wealth creation. The session commenced with detailed explanations from the Central MSME, State MSME, and relevant government departments regarding schemes and incentives tailored for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Attendees gained insights into the support mechanisms provided by both the central and state governments, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the available resources to propel MSMEs forward. CA Sanketh S Nayak took the stage to elucidate the diverse funding options available for MSMEs and startups. His presentation covered a spectrum of financial avenues, empowering entrepreneurs with knowledge about grants, loans, and other financial instruments. The discourse not only highlighted traditional funding sources but also delved into contemporary approaches, ensuring that the audience left with a well-rounded understanding of how to secure financial backing for their ventures.
