Industrial Visit Report – SSR Masala Factory, Adyar – Mangalore

The industrial visit was held on 14 th November 2023 to SSR Masala Factory in Adyar, Mangalore. The focus of the visit was to observe the intricate processes involved in the production of ginger garlic paste and masala powders.

The production commenced with a meticulous washing of ginger and garlic, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene. Notably, the company prioritized using Reverse Osmosis (RO) water over normal water, a proactive measure to eliminate potential bacterial contamination.

The next step Involved passing the washed ingredients through three distinct types of grinders. The third grinder played a crucial role in achieving the desired fine paste consistency. This attention to detail in the grinding process ensures the quality of the final product.

An Interesting aspect of the production process was the use of turmeric to impart a vibrant yellow color to the paste. This not only enhances the visual appeal but also aligns with consumer preferences for well-colored products.

Prior to packaging, the freshly ground paste undergoes a 24-hour cooling period. This step ensures the preservation of flavor and quality, contributing to an extended shelf life.

In terms of preservation, the addition of vinegar and sodium benzoate in minimal quantities serves as a preservative. This carefully measured approach, adhering to a government-approved ratio of 2g/20kg, allows the ginger garlic paste to be stored for an impressive six months without compromising on safety or taste.

Following the meticulous production processes, our visit extended to the packaging unit, where we witnessed the fascinating technique of magnetic induction sealing. This advanced sealing method not only ensures product freshness but also prevents any tampering or contamination.

The observation of the filling process for various masalas, such as fish fry masala and chicken lollipop masala, provided insights into the diverse product range manufactured by SSR Masala Factory. The precision in measuring and filling showcased their commitment to delivering consistent quality across different spice blends.

The attention to detail extended to the printing of sealing papers, where branding and product information were seamlessly incorporated. This aspect not only contributes to a visually appealing product but also enhances brand recognition.

It was enlightening to learn that SSR Masala Factory has an additional outlet in Mangalore, and their products reach customers not only in Mumbai, Goa, throughout Mangalore, and some parts of Kerala but also extend to international markets. The company’s global reach includes exports to Dubai and other Middle East countries, highlighting the success and recognition of their products on an international scale.

Overall, the industrial visit provided a comprehensive understanding of SSR Masala Factory’s production, packaging, and distribution processes. Their commitment to quality, innovation, and global expansion positions them as a noteworthy player in the spice industry.

In conclusion, the industrial visit to SSR Masala Factory provided valuable insights into the meticulous processes involved in the production of ginger garlic paste.
